Colleen Thorn started a discussion titled Snowtober
Did everyone have a great time in the snow storm last night? No, too early. Yes, wayyyy too early. Post some of your funniest events and pictures related to the Snowtober (that's Snow in October combined if you hadn't guessed). Can't wait to see and read all of your funny times. I drove home on Route 9 in an almost complete whiteout, but I made it home; it just took double the time, but I had lots of company on the road.

Colleen Thorn started a discussion titled Pink Party!!! on Fri, Apr 01, 9:00PM - 11:55PM EDT at 34 Learned Street, Albany, NY 12207
Has everyone bought their ticket to the Pink Party, a little change in pricing but nothing major. Just click on the Friday Puppy link and the paypal link should bring you right to the correct pricing. This is for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Association so it is for a great cause.

Jeff Goronkin posted a reply to a discussion titled Tech Valley 4th Annual FIRST Robotics Competion on Sat, Feb 19, 1:00PM - 4:00PM EST at 405 Jordan Road In the Rensselaer Technology Park
The Shen robotics team is heading to New Hampshire tomorrow to participate in their first robotics competition of the year. I had a chance to see their robot in action at the exhibition a few weeks ago and it was very impressive! Competions are held all over the world and they are open to the public. Here's a link to the 2011 competion schedule: http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles/Who/Assets/FIRST-Prg-2011-Schedules.pdf

Speaking of robots, how awesome for Nathaniel Quillin, the RPI student whose Robonauts are heading into space right now on the Discovery! http://www.timesunion.com/default/article/RPI-student-on-the-inside-for-a-first-in-space-1027750.php You know, if the Robonaut can be engineered to perform spacewalks, it can save astronaut lives. I am just forever impressed by the amazing work that is coming out of our very own Tech Valley!

Have you rode on a Segway? The guy who invented the Segway (Dean Kamen) also founded the US FIRST robotics program about 10 years ago. The program teaches students ages 6 to 18 all aspects of robotics and provides them the opportunity to participate in regional and national competitions. On February 19th students from the Capital Region are holding a special exhibition at the Rensselaer Tech Park and the public is welcome to attend to watch them show off their mechanical artificial agents! For more information on US FIRST check out their website: www.usfirst.org

Women's Coffee...
15 Sep 2011
We asked, WHAT DO WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS WANT, BUT CAN'T FIND? *** You answered, SIMPLE NETWORKING WITH OTHER WOMEN. *** We listened. *** How does it work? * Come when you can. * Introduce yourself to a few people. Not sure what to talk about? At 5:30ish, we will give you a topic for thought provided by a different local professional each month. * Stay for awhile and leave when you want. There is no agenda, just a calm environment to meet others who share your interest in entrepreneurship. This informal gathering is providing women with a nonbusiness-like atmosphere for candid conversation to flow. Sponsored by the Severino Center for Technological Entrepreneurship.
